David and Kathy Howe welcome you to their website ...

David and Kathy are both committed Christians

We are both teachers, but have both retired from full-time teaching. Kathy has  finished (May 2017) working at Carlisle Airport as a Flying Instructor with Border Air Training.

David has suspended his work as a Mountain Leader/Tourist Guide and  teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL). But they both take Guided Walks as Volunteers from Bowless, in Teesdale.

David is a Guard on the South Tynedale Railway, Alston.  We have both been commissioned as Prayer Chaplains at Carlisle Cathedral. David is Church Warden at St Michael's, Stanwix.

David was diagnosed with bowel cancer seven years ago, had surgery  and finished a 30 week course of chemotherapy. He was given the "all clear" in 2015 and the next check-up is in 2020.

Lately we have got interested again in long distance walks. In 2014 we completed the Thames Path National Trail, some 200 miles from the source near Cirencester to The Thames Barrier. Our summer walk 2015 was the 100 mile long South Downs Way National Trail from Winchester to Eastbourne, for 2016 the 75 mile long Capital Ring walk through London suburbs. In 2017 we walked the 150 mile long London LOOP walk around the perimeter of London. This year it was the North Downs National Trail.

We both still run for pleasure, try to take in a hike once a week and delight in taking the Settle-Carlisle Railway to Skipton for a pizza.

As an interest, we both took national accreditation from the WSET in wine and spirits.
